Scatterbrained!

Let’s catch up, shall we?

I haven’t done a post in a few days, but my fingers have been itching to let you all know what’s been going on these past few days!  First off, I got violently ill with Sour Stomach.  Have any of you ever had this?  It is ridiculous!!!

I had mentioned Wednesday that I wasn’t feeling so hot, and I forewent the gym in order to not throw up all over the place.  Let me just get to the nasty details I am sure you want to hear nothing of (too bad for you).  Sour Stomach brings on sour burps.  I have never burped so much in all. my. life.  And they smelled REALLY bad.  I have experienced this before once when I had the flu, but it was after I had been throwing up non-stop for 2 days.  Then I had the runs (yep, I went there), for 2 days straight.

After doing a little research online I found out that Sour stomach can be brought on by stress (none of that in my life, right?).  This happens after we are in the thick of renting out our current home, Dustin’s job title change, and looking at homes to buy in a new part of the state (more on that in a little bit).  I can’t imagine why I would be stressed out right now (insert sarcasm font)?!

Anyway, when you have Sour Stomach the acid in your stomach creates air (putrid air I might add), and you get extremely bloated (and burpy, and gassy).  On Thursday night I thought I was starting to feel better and after eating nothing but toast I decided to get some greens and have a salad. With Beans.  Bad idea.  My stomach bloated so big that I couldn’t get comfortable.  I felt like I was pregnant all over again (with gas kicking like a baby).  I didn’t sleep almost at all that night and had to get up to go to the bathroom every 15 minutes.  Just when I thought I had gotten rid of everything in my intestines, the acid in my stomach started to make me feel painfully bloated again.

Finally on Friday night (after eating nothing, but plain toast and noodles) I started to feel a little better.  I had 1/2 of a sleepless night and then took some baking soda in water, and the pains in my stomach started to finally disappear.

Just in time to go look at possible homes to buy.

Fueled on Gatorade and water, we headed up to our soon-to-be home, to look at some homes.  Let me tell you.  It was bleak.  Everything that we had seen online that we liked was already under contract.  We drove around the area and got a feel for our options.  In the end, we found a home that will be great, and an even greater price (and by greater I mean cheap).  It has a lot of potential and is basically a blank canvas for me to get creative with.

When we moved into out current home 4 years ago, it was completely painted and decorated so if I wanted to change one thing, I had to change everything.  I’m pretty excited about the opportunity to make this new home my own!  Now I just pray that it all works out, and goes smoothly!

One last thing:

No weigh in today.  I missed almost the entire week at the gym and ate nothing but what my stomach was asking for. I did get on the scale and the number was lower than last week, but I don’t think it is a realistic number, and I don’t want to set myself up for failure next week.

Ok, are we friends again?  Good.  Back to regular posting this week!  Happy Monday!

Fun Facts Friday & Recipe Roundup

I know a FFF isn’t super individual and a lot of other blogs have the same Friday topics, but I can’t help but have a post full of random subjects.  So here are a few things that have been going on today:

1.  I did not go to the gym today.  Instead I cleaned my house from top to bottom, and now I don’t feel like jumping out of my own skin.  The only frustrating part is that Hanna and Kitty don’t understand the concept of not walking on the freshly mopped tile.  I now have little kitty feet and baby foot prints all over my tile.  At least its clean (that’s what I have to keep telling myself anyway).

2. I got a Kitchenaid Food Processor for $55.00 at Target yesterday.  It was on clearance because they aren’t carrying that model anymore, and it was missing a piece (which I will find on the internet), and was missing the instruction manual (which I will also find on the internet).  I love a good deal, but now I am banned from buying anything for a long time.

3. Hanna and I have been in our PJ’s all day long.  Ya, what?

4.  I’ve had so much energy today!  Normally I would take some Excedrine for a little caffeine boost, or drink an Energy Drink to get my house cleaned, but today I have been so full of energy purely because I have been eating well and taking care of myself.  Now I am seriously considering a vegan diet 100% of the time.  Change is always scary for me, but I think I am ready to take the plunge (we’ll see I still have 9 more days to go).

5.  I hear books being pulled off the shelves in the other room, and I’m afraid to go in there.  I probably need to tell myself to relax, but it gets frustrating after cleaning for 5 hours.  I would like it to stay nice for at least a day!  Is that asking too much!?!?!

6.  Last but most certainly not least, my hub’s has had 2 people ask him if he has lost weight this week!  Go Hub’s!!!  He is eating vegan while he’s with me, but still mostly healthy for other meals.  I’m working on trying not to be competitive, and be more supportive.  Men and Women lose weight so different that you can’t compare I guess.

Recipe Roundup

Here are a few of the recipes that I’ve been trying these last few days (and some of the recipes you’ve been asking for):

I am loving Clean Eating Chelsea, and Oh She Glows.  They have some yummy recipes.

Any great websites you use frequently for recipe’s?

What is your go-to meal?

Not a Lot of Words Wednesday…

  • Confession:  I didn’t end up going to the gym yesterday.  No excuses.  I just plain didn’t want to go.  I did clean for a couple of hours :)
  • I am at one of those low motivation points that come up about once a month.
  • Good thing is that I know if I push through, the motivation will eventually come back. ( I miss you Arrested Development)
  • I am constantly craving sweets lately.  I don’t keep any sweets in my house though, and so it is causing me to snack.  I am not usually a huge snacker, and its even harder to find what you’re looking for when there is no candy in the house.
  • I have a snowman candy jar for a Christmas decoration, he looks empty and sad.  He is yelling at me that I should fill him with Cherry Cordial Hershey’s Kisses that only come out this time of year.  Sorry Snowman, not this year (he’s pretty freaking cute though, wouldn’t you say?)
  • I’m going to start an “end of holiday countdown chain”, another version of the “Christmas Countdown Chain”.
  • 31 days until normalcy.  I can do this.
  • Now I’m off to the gym.  Again, I can do this.

What kind of random thoughts have you had today?

Factual Friday

Sweat it Out:
Elliptical 1 hour

1. Just bought the last Harry Potter & my hub’s got a SMOKING deal on a new 32″ flat screen for our bedroom.  Considering our old tv is from college days and turns off by itself, it was time for a new one.  Tonight we are going to snuggle in bed and watch HP!  #IAMAHARRYPOTTERNERD

2.  I have had some shoulder pain this week and so I have taken a few days off from weight lifting.  Getting back in it tomorrow morning and I can’t believe that at the end of next week I will already be to stage 5 in the NROLFW!!!  I feel like this program is flying by and I am seeing such great results!

3. I have decided to give up carbonation/soda until the new year.  I don’t have a huge problem with soda, but I can tell a HUGE difference in my cardio when I have had some the previous day. One thing at a time, baby steps!

4.  Flo showed up today and I have a feeling that is why my weigh in wasn’t what I was expecting.  Don’t get me wrong a 2.6 pounds loss is awesome, but not when I weighed 253.2 last Sunday.  That could have been my 10%!  Oh well, next week.

5.  I’ve got blisters on my pinky toes from my new boots.  Looks like I’ll need to break those bad boys in.

6.  Don’t go out to lunch on Veterans Day.  There were lines out the wazoo everywhere.

7.  Vick’s Vapor Rub works wonders on kids feet to get them to stop coughing at night.  I didn’t hear a peep from Hanna ALL night!

8. “Emilio!”, name that movie.

9. I’m fighting off the urge to buy any new clothes until I go to Arizona for Christmas.  I hate waiting!

10. I am not loving sick babies, and whining, but my mommy instincts tolerate it apparently.

Have a great weekend ya’ll!  Back to regular posts on Monday!

October is Here!

I would have to say that October has got to be my most favorite time of year!  I am instantly uplifted just by knowing that it is October 1st today. So I thought I would have a fun Saturday post (Lord knows I need it today!) on all of the things I LOVE about October!

1. Cooler Temperatures!

Source

I am an extremely sensitive sleeper.  If the temperature is not exactly where it needs to be, I have a hard time sleeping.  I love the fall because it’s time to open the windows, and turn off the air conditioner .  It doesn’t hurt that you save a little money on your electricity bill as well.

2. Leaves Changing Colors!

One thing I really miss about Utah is the Alpine Loop.  It has the most amazing display of autumn leaves, you can’t beat it!

3. Pumpkins!

I actually decorate with pumpkins all year round.  I love the way they make my house feel.

4. Fall Scents!

I keep then going 24/7.

5.  Halloween (duh!)

I am determined to dress up this year.  I usually am a spectator, but now that I have my little one, I’m planning to get more into the Halloween spirit!

6.Hoodies!

I practically live in hoodie’s when the weather changes.  They are SO comfortable.

7.  Fall Clothing in General!

Yay for jackets and tights!  I have some fishnet spanks that have done their time in the drawer.  Not to mention, now that I’ve lost some weight I can now fit into a few more articles of clothing in my closet!

8. General Conference: Happening this weekend!  I’m just gonna go ahead and out myself as a Mormon.  This is the time when the leaders of our church get together in Salt Lake City and share spiritual messages throughout the entire world.  An added bonus is that you can watch it on tv, so it’s pretty much like being able to go to church in your jammies.  Being spiritually uplifted in comfortable clothes, that is definitely a win in my book!

9.  It’s my mama’s birthday month!

That good looking lady is my mom.  She is turning 29 this month (isn’t she a hottie?), one of my top supporters, and she’s just a pretty neat lady all around!

10.  The newest addition to add to my list of why I LOVE October:

My baby girl is turning 1 year old on the 25th!

I am so excited you would think it was my own birthday!  And let me just add that she is a walking fool right now.  I am so proud of my little munchkin!

There are just a few reason’s why October is my favorite time of year.  Now I get a chance to start fresh with a new month and make some new goals (more tomorrow on that)!

What is your favorite time of year?

Few Things Friday

Sweat it Out:
5 Minute Elliptical Warm-up
45 Minutes Weights

Few Things Friday

1.  I get a lower back pain about every 3 months.  I think it has something to do with my womanly parts.  I usually panic that I have hurt myself something fierce, but the last time I told myself to remember that it happens often.  I remembered today.  I went to the gym and did my weightlifting workout and my back started spazzing out.  I skipped my cardio and headed home.  I went to the gym way too late today and lost my motivation after my back started hurting.  Last time it hurt I did some stretching to help it out, and instead hurt my calf muscle somehow.  I would go tot he Dr., but it’s kind of hard when you have no Health Insurance.  I’m sure everything is fine and this will be like every other time and it will be healed after about 4 days.  Thank goodness I only have cardio to do tomorrow and then a rest day.

Let me stress that I did not hurt my back because of weightlifting.  It is the same stupid pain I get 2 weeks after flo leaves.  It’s funny how she comes once a month, and then it takes you 3 weeks to recover.

2. I made a pot of chicken noodle soup on Wednesday and had some for lunch today.  With the Fall weather speedily approaching, I can’t help but want to stay home, cuddle with my little girl, and eat soups. I LOVE soup weather, and I have some fun recipes that I’ve been waiting to try.  Dustin got called into work for the remainder of the week, and so I’m on my own.  We ALMOST  got to have a date night.  This will be his 4th weekend working.  Boo.

3. I got crafty last night and stole an idea from Janetha over at Meals and Moves.  I made myself a Motivational Journal.  I mainly use the blog to keep track of my workouts and such, but I thought this idea was so great I had to make one for myself.  I bought a plain-looking journal at Wal-mart, got some old fitness, and food magazines together and made a motivational collage with words and pictures from the magazine.  Then I used Clear Contact paper to laminate the outside so nothing would come off.  Here is how it turned out:

Front

Back

The photo in the middle on the front is of me when I was working at Dillards.  Dustin and I had just started dating and it is one of my favorite photo’s of myself, and one of the few.  I always feel motivation from it when I see how healthy and happy I was at that time.

I made this journal to motivate me, but also to track my food, workouts, and thoughts.  Of course, I don’t share every thought and feeling on the blog (that would be boring) and I’m trying to use this as a tool to find out triggers for eating and thoughts that are to personal to share.

4. I’m reading the book “Room”.  Its apart of the PBFingers Bookclub.

I am having a hard time putting this book down, it is such a great read!  And yes, that is a crocheted book mark that my Gramma made me, thank you very much.

5. I’m about to drink my 3rd Nalgene for the day.  Lately, I have not been getting quite enough water.  I went to this website and found out I should be drinking 153 oz. of water a day.  HOLY CRAP!  You are supposed to take into account that some of your water intake comes from the foods you eat.  I’m pretty sure I ate at least 10 oz. of water just in my soup.  Looks like I better get crackin.  If I’m not drinking the water, I’m peeing it out.

So that’s what my day has looked like, how about you?

Today’s workout was Day 3, Phase 2, Workout A:

  • Front Squat/Push Press 30 Pounds 2 sets of 10
  • Step-up 40 pounds 2 sets of 10
  • Dumbbell one-point row 30 pounds 2 sets of 10
  • Static Lunge-rear foot elevated 30 pounds 2  sets of 10
  • Push-up Body Weight
  • Plank Modified to knees, 2 holds for 60 seconds
  • Cable Horizontal Wood Chop 60 Pounds
Now I’m off to heat my back and take some Ibuprofen.

Just so ya know…….

Elliptical 1 Hour!

I don’t usually post on Saturday, because it’s a busy day of getting stuff done, but today I post just so everyone knows that I made it to the gym for the 5th time, and did an HOUR on the Elliptical.  Oh, and it felt amazing.

I just had to get that out there in the blogosphere.

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Holy Hanna, my Brain is FRIED!

What a totally useless day today was.

It started out with the Pediatrician where Hanna had her 6 month wellness check-up (even though she’s 7 1/2 months). She was a brave little girl and pleasantly surprised the nurse by only crying for about five seconds while she got 3 shots. I think mama cried more than she did.

Put Hanna down for a nap and she slept for almost 3 hours!!! They flew by, and I’ll tell you why. I’ve been trying to get this blog up and running with all the bells and whistles. I am an over-thinker when it comes to technology, my downfall. I wanted to create different tabs at the top of the blog so that posts will be easy to find and organized. Could I figure out how to do this,no. I spent the entire alone time I had trying to figure the ins and outs of blogger. Three hours later, I had made very little progress.

The rest of my afternoon was dealing with a sad panda who was irritable because of her shots.

By the way, you’ll notice I have tabs at the top of my blog. I figured it out at 8:00 in about 2 minutes. What a waste of a good nap.

Why it is Super Easy to go to the Gym with Kids:
Sarcasm at its finest. One thing that has been the hardest thing to get use to after baby is that you are a slave to their moods and schedule.

I like to go to the gym in the afternoon because that is when I like to snack. If I’m at the gym no snacky for Carrie. I thought it was too good to be true when Hanna handled her shots so well. I was totally planning on doing my regular gym thing…..enter sad panda. Every time I tried to put the little gal down she would cry, and it was a sad cry, the kind that melts your heart, and you think I am such a bad mom if I don’t comfort my child. Argh! Those are hard! So no gym today even though I had the motivation. Hopefully we can get our act together for tomorrow morning.

Q’s

Are you technologically challenged?
Not usually, but today I just could not get it together!

What’s an obstacle you have when going to the gym besides motivation?
Obviously my child has been my biggest obstacle. Before child I would say sleep.
