It’s Feeling a Little Roomy Around Here

Sweat it Out:
Elliptical 45 Minutes

On Friday I woke up with a pain in my neck.  I’m having a lot of pain when I try to touch my chin to my chest.  I did weights and there was some uncomfortable feelings when I put the barbell up over my neck to do lunges.  On Saturday I woke up with an even worse pain in my neck and to top it off, when I picked Hanna up I felt a shooting pain from the top of my neck to the middle of my right shoulder-blade.  Ugh!  My wonderful hub’s gave me a neck and back massage that night (his calling in life was to be a massage therapist, but I don’t want him touching people, if you know what I mean), and Sunday morning all the areas were nice and stiff.  Jerky movements are seriously painful.  Anyway, my point is that I am going to take the week off from weight lifting to see if my neck gets better and if it’s not feeling better by next week I will go to the Chiropractor.

I do have some great news this week though as far as a weigh in.  But it’s not actually the “weigh in” part.  Let’s get it over with anyway:

Starting Weight: 282.8 Pounds

Last Week’s Weight: 251.6 Pounds

This Weeks Weight: 250.4 Pounds

Total Week’s Loss: 1.2 Pounds

Total Loss Overall: 32.4 POUNDS!

I am not going to lie, I cold have lost more, and there were a few days last week where I took a little detour (Almond Toffee Symphony Bar, anyone?), but I am happy to see a loss, and I know that it is only going to get better.  Next week I hope to get into the 240′s and kiss the 250′s goodbye forever.

Some places I went wrong last week:

  • Didn’t track my food everyday, and I got cocky.  Almost every time I make a new recipe I plug it into the Livestrong website so that I can count how many calories are going in.  I didn’t do that on Friday or Saturday and the Pesto that I had (both nights) although delicious was made with a cup of olive oil.   Yes, that is a healthy fat, but you can’t eat it by the gallon.  I’m going to start watching the oil consumption from here on out.  And I think that my sodium intake was a little big yesterday, so that is another aspect that needs to be looked out for.

Here is where the fun starts: Measurements!

To catch you all up, I took measurements on January 2nd at the start of the Vegan Kickstart Challenge.  I took a new set of measurements today and here are the results that I have got:

First set of numbers are from January 2 second set is today’s

Bust: 48 1/2         47 -1.5
Under Bust: 42    40 1/2 -1.5
Right Arm: 16       16
Left Arm: 16           16
Belly: 50 1/2        49  -1.5
Hips: 52 1/2        50 1/2 -2
Right Thigh: 30   29 -1
Left Thigh: 30       29 -1
Right Calf: 17        16 1/2 -.5
Left Calf: 17          16 1/2 -.5

Add that up and it is a total of 9.5 inches lost since the beginning of the month!!!  I think that is why I was so frustrated with the scale these last couple of weeks because I kept saying to myself “my clothes feel roomier, I must have lost more than what the scale is saying”.  Since the beginning of 2012 I have lost a total of 5.4 pounds, but apparently I am turning more fat into muscles and I am definitely telling a difference!

Happy Monday everyone!

FMM: Makeup Favorites

Man is this topic totally up my ally!  I worked for Nordstrom for 3 years, and 2 of those years were in cosmetics.  In that time I accrued quite the makeup hoard (which I have given away a LOT of it because you can only wear so much makeup until it smells funny. Yes, makeup does have expiration dates).

I worked for a skin care company named Kiehls (I still use their products because they are wonderful!).  The great thing about working in cosmetics is that you can trade “gratis” (free $h!t) to other cosmetic counters for their products.  The Mac counter-manager’s husband loved the Kiehls products for men (they always make top 10 lists) and so we would swap brands every couple of months.

One thing that is great about having a lot of makeup is that you can pull off many different looks, but those looks don’t transition well going from a cosmetic counter job, to a desk job selling insurance.  All of my outlandish colors got given away, or they are used about once a year.

Anyway…

If you’ve taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add your link in the comments section here at: www.alltheweigh.com so we can all see your FMM questions and answers. Please invite your blog readers to add their links here too so everyone has to opportunity to be seen. The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to post your own FMM post and comment on a couple of other posts. Now it’s time for this week’s topic!

FMM: Makeup Favorites

1. Do you wear makeup everyday?  No.  Two years ago I decided to stop wearing so much makeup because no matter what brand of makeup I wear, I seem to break out around my chin area. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE makeup, but after not wearing foundation for about 3 months my skin became smooth and clear.  It has also saved me money, so most days I just wear a little eyeliner and mascara.

2. Does your routine change if you are going out with friends/on a date/to a party?  I do wear a full face of makeup for special events like date night, or girls night out.  I always wear makeup to church.  I find that if I only put on a full face of makeup 1-2 days out of the week, my skin still stays clear.

3. Are you loyal to one brand, or do you use different brands for different things?  I have yet to find a cosmetic line that is amazing at all makeup aspects, but there are a few things that I am brand loyal to.

4. Do you use primer/concealer? I feel like primer makes my pores look HUGE, and concealer on occasion.  I use a Stila concealer because all of their face makeup has a tint of yellow for people who have naturally reddish skin, like me.  It seems to stay in place the best for me.

5. What’s your favorite brand of foundation? Stila all the way!  It is light with good coverage and has that slightly yellow tint so that it makes my skin more porcelain like.

6. Do you use blush and/or bronzer?  I use blush in all forms, powder or creme.  I love Stila’s cream blush I also have a lot of MAC blush and Laura Mercier.  I am always on the hunt for the perfect pink blush.  I have found that Stila’s “cozy” is the best pink I’ve found thus far.

7. Do you wear eyeshadow/liner? When I wear a full face yes.  Although, I hate liquid liner.  I never could master the application.

8. What’s your favorite kind of mascara? MAC, but I can’t remember which line, and I am too lazy to go look.

9. Lipstick?  Lipgloss? Both?  Favorite?  I always think I am going to wear lipgloss, so I have a ton, but always end up wearing chap stick?  I usually layer, thin line of chap stick, and Bobbi Brown lip shine.  It gives the perfect amount of shine with out the lip gloss being too thick.  The thing I hate about lip stuff in general is that it leaves marks all over my baby girl when I kiss her and stuff on my hub’s.  Apparently I am a kisser.

10. Do you wear nail polish regularly?  If so which are your favorite colors/brands?  I never wear polish on my hands, I like my hands natural looking. Plus, chipped nails drive me insane.  I almost always have my toes painted.  I love the OPI brand and one of my favorite colors is Root Beer Float.

11. How do you remove your make up at the end of the day?  When I wear makeup I use baby wipes (I always have a steady supply).  I have found it is gentle on my skin and more effective than washing with cleanser and water.

12. Do you feel prettier when you are wearing makeup?  Of course!  But that is also why I save it for special occasions because when I wear it everyday it loses its luster.

13. Do you have any beauty tips that you could pass along?  Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize.  Find a good face moisturizer (preferably with an SPF) and moisturize day and night!

Now it’s your turn!  Answer a question or blog about it and link up over at Kenlie’s blog!

Stay tuned for a weigh in and a measurement post later on!
