What I Ate Wednesday, & My First Fail.

Let me start by pointing out I am one of the spotlight bloggers over at Fitblogger(click to link) check me out!  And if you are stopping by from Fitblogger, thanks for reading, I hope to see/hear from you again!

I am going to have to admit that I had 2 fails yesterday for the first time throughout my 21-Day Vegan Kickstart.  I’m so far from perfect, so I got my head straight and made sure my last meal of the day was on point.

Once again thank you Jenn from Peas & Crayons for hosting What I Ate Wednesday!

Breakfast: These days breakfast is the same thing every morning…..oatmeal.  Don’t feel bad for me, I happen to like oatmeal.

In the mix is Quick Oats, Ground Flaxseed, 1/2 of a banana, and Agave Nectar.  For some reason this morning oatmeal tasted like heaven.  Weird.

Post Workout:

Nothing new, Pea Protein with Almond Milk, Frozen strawberries, and a HUGE handful of Spinach.

Lunch:  Here’s where I got off track.  If you’ve been reading my blog, I am participating in the PCRM 21-Day Vegan Kickstart, and I have not faltered once in the last 2 1/2 weeks, but today food got to me.  Me and my hub’s were dying to go out to eat somewhere and I wasn’t thinking when I said yes to our favorite Chinese restaurant Chin Chin.  I tried to be good, I really did, but it got to me.  And don’t think it was my hubs’ fault either, he was not trying to tempt me at all, and supported me when I chose to get the Spicy Tofu (and he ate my cream cheese wonton that came with the lunch special).

Ok, so I have found that I am not a huge fan of tofu.  At least the way this restaurant prepared it.  It tasted like spicy french toast (does that even make sense?).  I ate my rice (which had egg in it #fail), and egg roll (which I think had some pork in it #fail), and 4 pieces of shrimp (last time I checked shrimp isn’t vegan). then we went to get gas in my car and I got these:

Um, all of the pinks and reds from each different kind of starburst flavors?  Yes, please.  I haven’t had any candy or sugar (besides fruit, natural sugar) in 3 1/2 weeks.  Technically this is not a vegan fail, but it definitely wasn’t good for my body, and I felt the sugar HARD in my system after.  I’m not going to lie, it was worth it.  They tasted amazing, and it is about progress not perfection.  I forgive you self!  If you want to have a candy treat every 3 1/2 weeks, I am ok with that. I can’t wait until February 11 when I can have my next one (hehe).

Before dinner snack:

Kombucha.  Dustin and I came to an agreement that I could drink a Kombucha a day for the 21 day’s I was doing the vegan kickstart and so this is my last week to OD on this addictive stuff.  At almost $3 a bottle, I’m going to have to cut back.  Maybe only drink half of one a day?

Dinner:

I told myself that I wouldn’t let my lunch (and starbursts) effect the rest of my day from vegan living, and so I got back on track for dinner.  I don’t know what it was, but this random stir fry was AH-MAZING!  The hub’s decided to play in a tournament tonight so I was on my own for dinner.  I veered from my meal plan since the hub’s had requested stuffed peppers, and there was no reason to make them if he wasn’t going to be here.  Another night I guess.  In my stir fry there was carrots, spinach, green onions, chinese vegetables, sautéed in olive oil and teriyaki sauce, and then some brown rice.  I pretty much licked my bowl clean.  Fun Fact:  That bowl is a Colt’s bowl that I made for my hub’s last christmas.  I’m such a good wife.  I support my hub’s team even when they suck it up hard!

Looking back at my day, it wasn’t the worst day I have ever had.  I just hope it doesn’t effect my workout tomorrow.  I have two more times going out to dinner this week (to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and the hub’s birthday is on Saturday and we actually have a babysitter!!!) so I am going to have to do some better planning.  Ironically, we have gotten email coupon’s from Famous Dave’s, Texas Roadhouse, and Red Lobster for Dustin’s birthday. All huge meat restaurants.  I’m going to have to look over all of their menus and see if there is anything close to what I can eat.  We could always go somewhere different, or not go out at all?  Decisions, decisions.
