Sweat it Out:
5 Minute Elliptical Warm-up
30 Minute Weights
45 Minute Elliptical Intervals
Todays workout was day 5, stage 1, workout A. As per usual with the weight lifting workouts, I felt this one. Yesterday, I was feeling light-headed and my blood sugar was low, so today I prepared pre-workout to make sure that I could get through the entire hour and twenty-minute workout, without passing out. I made myself a banana peanut butter sandwich.
This was the perfect pre-workout snack and didn’t bog me down. Plus, I LOVE peanut butter. I allow myself 2 Tbs.’s a day, on the days I work out. Its like 5 points a serving. Considering that I have been working out about 5 times a week, I eat PB almost every day of the week. Yum!
Today’s Workout:
- Barbell Squats 2 sets, 12 Reps, 30 Pounds
- Push-ups 2 Sets, 12 Reps, girlie style
- Seated Row 2 Sets, 12 Reps, 70 Pounds
- Step-ups 2 Sets, 12 Reps, 16 Pounds
- Prone Jack Knives 2 Sets, 8 Reps
I had a breakthrough at the gym today. For those of you who are just catching up I am doing “The New Rules of Weight Lifting for Woman” with a group from priorfatgirl.com. There is a forum where we can all chat about the program and how we’ve done so far. I went on the site yesterday and there were a lot of comments about the Prone Jackknife move on workout A.

I have to admit when I looked at this move I thought “there is NO WAY that my 271 pound body can do that move!”. So I left it out the first 2 workout, thinking that I will work my way up to it. There were a lot of people on the forum saying that they couldn’t do the full set, they fell off the ball, had to modify the exercise, etc. Today I decided that I would just try the move and get it over with. I DID IT!!!!!! BOTH SETS AND ALL OF THE REPS!!!!! Man, I love moments like that. It just shows that sometimes we totally underestimate what our bodies can do!
So I am in an amazing mood today, and ready to conquer the weigh in tomorrow! I kind of feel like Wonder Woman right now (but without the knee-high boots and skin-tight bustier). I hope everyone is having just as wonderful of a day!
Have you ever conquered something you thought you couldn’t?
What was your workout today?
